Frankensteining a Body of Experimental Work

Fourteen Austin-based studios and motion designers participated in the 48-Hour Animation Challenge, presented by the Austin Motion Artists Group, Moontower VFX, Houndstooth Studio, and The Octopus Project.  Each team received a start frame and end frame designed by Houndstooth and The Octopus Project, along with 11 seconds of “Mmkit”, an Octopus Project song.  Here are their assembled segments in a seamless music video.  Prepare your eyes for a trippy feast.

An Animation Jam

Houndstooth Studio’s very own Travis Benn spearheaded this 48-hour event with Austin Motion Artists Group and Moontower VFX, and The Octopus Project. The inventive collaboration was themed, “The Ecstatic Energy of Geometry”. This Exquisite Corpse music video went on to be featured in Gizmodo, the Austin Chronicle, and Vimeo’s Staff Picks.

Check out a few of the keyframes that Houndstooth designed, below.
